Rupert Peploe
Rupert Peploe comes from a family with a very strong artistic tradition; Samuel J. Peploe the Scottish Colourist was a relation, as was Fitzgerald Peploe, the New York society sculptor of the 1890s and Thomas Peploe Wood, the early 19th century topographical artist.
Rupert has always combined his professional life in the Antiques Trade with painting and drawing, and in recent years has had a series of successful one man shows in Bristol where he lives.
He works in oils using brushes and palette knives, and is particularly excited by colour and form within the West Country Landscape, but still lifes also feature prominently in his output. The Irish artist Paul Henry and the Canadian artist Tom Thomson have been important sources of inspiration for Rupert.
